About Andy Cheese

Andrew Cheese was born in Odstock, Hampshire.

He attended Ravensbourne College of Art where he gained a B.A. Hons Degree in Sculpture.

After graduating he became an assistant to John Ravera (former President of The Royal Society of British Sculptors). This was invaluable training, which gave him a sound grounding in all sculptural techniques.

This was followed by several years working for two internationally renowned sculpture studios; Derek Freeborn's in East Horsley, Surrey, and Edward Lawrence Associates, Midhurst, West Sussex. This introduced him to an even wider range of artistic styles, and helped him to develop and strengthen his approach to his own work.

Andrew's work has been shown at exhibitions across the south of England including R.H.S. Wisley, Polsden Lacy near Dorking, and the Garden Galley in Wiltshire. Whilst teaching at Bedales School he has also exhibited his work in the Art gallery there. He has also completed a large number of commissions, ranging from large Public Art sculptures to delicate replacement figurines for a church. Private collections in Holland, England and Wales also contain his work.

Andy CheeseAndrew's subjects are primarily figurative, and use a wide range of materials. He strives to convey the inner strength and vitality of his subjects through his work.

He now divides his time between his teaching at Bedales School and sculpture commissions.
